1984 Mongoose Grand Prix [SOLD]

This was the first old school BMX that I rebuilt/restored...a 1984 Mongoose Grand Prix, an entry-level Mongoose built for the UK market. I bought a rusty old bike on Ebay and had the frame and forks rechromed by Doug Taylor Metal Finishing, in Avon. The forks were made for Mongoose in the 80's by Lungi. The bars were rusted through, so they went in the bin. The Skyway Tuff IIs came with the bike and they were in fantastic condition, but I did need to fit new axles. I bought a highly polished SR stem, some NOS Shimano SX pedals, a Shimano DX333 freewheel and an NOS Sugino 1-piece crank, spider and chainring. The seat, seat post, clamp and brakes were repop Dia-Compe. The Mongoose grips and decals were from BMX Products. I finished the build off with some cheap white wall tyres. This was my daily rider at work, for the summer of 2012 at Leavesden Studios, working on 'The Edge of Tomorrow'. I dismantled and sold this bike in February 2013 to fund other projects.
